Chuck Prophet pays homage to the city he calls home for his twelfth
studio album, Temple Beautiful. Set for February 7, 2012 release on Yep
Roc Records, the album is named for the ill-fated club of the same name,
“Temple Beautiful is a long closed punk rock club located in the old
Reverend Jim Jones’ People’s Temple. Where I saw my first gigs,” says
Prophet, who co-produced the album with Brad Jones. “This record was
made in San Francisco, by San Franciscans about San Francisco.”
Prophet brings the "Temple Beautiful" tour to Pittsburgh this Friday for an 'Evening with...' show that begins at 9. Chuck was nice enough to take a few minutes to participate in this edition of First/Last.

First concert attended?
In John Ladner’s garage. It was his band. I was in it for about 10 minutes but they kicked me out. I was 11. Later it was the The Flamin' Groovies at the Temple Beautiful in San Francisco.
Last concert?
The one I played last night.
Any thoughts, experiences about
Pittsburgh?
Love the place. It's one of the first places in the states we played with some regularity. Happy they will have us. We've had great radio support over the years. Played a great outdoor fest with Lucinda there. Played the Warhol museum one time. And film-makers. That was really cool. Right now is as a raw a time in the American Experience as I can remember. The good news is that the life and death, rebirth and total extinction of the American Dream is great material for songwriters. So, it all works for me.
