First/Last-Bible Belt Sinners

"If you're looking for a traditional rock band with a sweet female vocalist, keep looking.
Bible Belt Sinners have never been typical. Bringing to the table the raw power of a growling blues vocal with all the grittiness of a punk rock band, BBS combines such influences for an original sound and unforgettable experience. The drummer of BBS plays standing up, and makes it look easy. Grotto combines savvy style with high energy and often ends a song from three feet in the air.
Known for their live shows, BBS enjoy stage antics like feeding each other shots of whiskey will still playing and performing. Front Woman Miss Molly Simms joined the band in 2010, after her local win of the River Front Time's "Best Female Vocalist". Aside from her powerhouse vocals, Molly plays clean warm tone lead licks, reminiscent of her roots in blues music."

Check out the band at their official Website, Facebook, BandCamp, ReverbNation and Twitter. The rockabilly quartet hails from St. Louis and recently released the foot-stompin' ass-kicking' album, "Sunday Best". They hit Pittsburgh this Thursday at Howler's and I want to thank Miss Molly Simms (Guitar/Vocals), Andrew "Sal" Bono (Guitar), Myles Richardson (Bass) and Grotto Kozieja (Drums) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

The first album you ever bought?
Miss Molly Simms: Snoop Dog “Da Game is to be Sold, Not to be Told”.
Andrew “Sal” Bono: Pearl Jam “Ten”.
Myles Richardson: Black Sabbath “Paranoid”.
Grotto Kozieja: My mom’s copy of the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper” was the first album I called my own. As a kid I would sit in the kitchen with pencils and pretend I was Ringo Starr. My first album purchase was Faith No More's "The Real Thing". Mike Borden is a much better drummer than Ringo.

Your last album bought?
Miss Molly: Billy Bragg “Tooth & Nail”.
Sal: Against Me!, Transgender Dysphoria Blues”.
Myles: Flogging Molly “Drunken Lullabies”.
Grotto: A Dick Dale "33 I found at a Goodwill for $1.

Favorite album of all time?
Miss Molly: Elvis Costello “My Aim is True”.
Sal: Rancid “...And Out Come the Wolves”.
Myles: Roy Orbison “Only the Lonely”.
Grotto: “Kris Kristofferson’s Discography Vol.1”.

Least favorite/most disappointing album?
Miss Molly: Primus “Sailing the Seas of Cheese”.
Sal: The Beatles “White Album”.
Myles: AFI “Sing the Sorrow”.
Grotto: “Johnny Thunders Live”. Kind of sad.

First concert attended?
Miss Molly: Tom Petty.
Sal: MXPX.
Myles: Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Grotto: My older brother took me to Mississippi Nights in St. Louis to see the band Morphine. I didn't really know or like the band but it felt cool to be at a real show.

Last concert?
Miss Molly: Rancid.
Sal: Against Me!
Myles: Hank III.
Grotto: Hillbilly Casino, one of those bands that is just always great no matter what.

Favorite concert ever?
Miss Molly: Pine Top Perkins at the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival.
Sal: That's like asking me my favorite kind of pizza.
Myles: That's a toughie?! Hank III was an insane show.
Grotto: I won tickets to see The Hives, right about the time they were becoming popular. I wasn't familiar with a lot of their stuff but their ability to own the show, and the energy and stage presence was amazing. That and The Cramps in '03 when they were still crushing it. My wife was pregnant with our oldest daughter it was her first show.

Least favorite concert?
Miss Molly: Nothing comes to mind...
Sal: GWAR.
Myles: Point Fest blows!
Grotto: Whatever the last Warped Tour I went to. It was hotter than Jesus on a camel, and I didn't care to hear any of the bands, not sure why I was there.

Any thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?
Miss Molly: Really looking forward to our first visit.
Sal: Never been. Let's give it a go.
Myles: Never been. I want their famous Primanti Brothers sandwiches!
Grotto: Never been to Pittsburgh, can't wait to go!

Thanks, guys. Really diggin' the album. Bring that fire to Pittsburgh!
