First/Last-Old Man Markley

"An amalgam of LA’s finest punk bands and seasoned bluegrass musicians, Old Man Markley is creating music that defies boundaries. Founded in 2007 in the sunny San Fernando Valley, OMM cut its teeth playing countless jams of bluegrass standards and covers of distinctly un-bluegrass songs done bluegrass style.  Soon, out of the chaos grew original material that combined everything the band loved about all the different styles of music the members grew up playing and writing. The band played its first official show in 2008 at a small bar called the Old Towne Pub in Pasadena. The show yielded a capacity crowd and sold out of beer, and people literally danced on the bar."

Check out the band at their official Website, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace and Twitter. My thanks to John Rosen (Banjo/Vocals) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

Any thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?
I've always secretly wished I lived in Pittsburgh. Seriously. I think it's, hands down, one of the most picturesque cities I've ever visited. Love PNC Park -- one of the most stunning downtown vistas of any ballpark in the game. Love, love, love Primanti Bros. (even thought fish is the only meat I eat these days). And I love to pretend I speak Yinzer n'at!

Thanks, John. As with you previous album, I am so enjoying the newer one.

Yes, you are right...bummer.
From the band's FB: "We are so sorry to announce that after all of our efforts, we have no choice but to cancel our Pittsburgh show tonight at the smiling moose due to bus problems! We apologize to all of our friends and fans and we will do our best to book a make up show later this year. -OMM"
