It's no secret to anyone who's visited this blog that I love this band. After a half year hiatus, they return for a one-off show to support another group I can't get enough of for their CD release show, MOIP. They sounded great and I am hoping they play again sooner rather than later. Some more detailed fanboy love here and here.

I dig the Truckers. I have seen them several times and was excited that we got them as Petty's openers. I couldn't get over how good they sounded out on the lawn. Loud, clear, and rockin'! What more could you ask for? Setlist here.

I loved this show. You cannot beat these free outdoor summer concerts. I have always wanted to see this band to boot and even though they played a bunch of songs off their latest album that I am not all that familiar with, they still sounded great. It's kind of strange when I go to shows anymore because I am concentrating on taking photos, I sometimes inadvertently tune out the music. Sometimes, as was the case here, I was digging the music so much, the photography was the distraction. Weird.

I am an unabashedly proud lover of most things '80's. I graduated high school 25 years ago and wanted my MTV as much as anyone else. Asia were a huge part of my formative years and all the original members are releasing a new album this week and touring to support. Seriously, it's Steve Howe on guitar! Thanks to Drusky Entertainment, I have a pair of passes to the show for one lucky viewer of the blog. All you need to do to enter is email me at hughshows@comcast.net with the subject line 'Asia'. In the message, supply the full name you want for the folks at will call the night of the show which will be good for two tickets. One entry per person.
