First/Last-The John Trumaine Show

"Three guys that hit on things in a fashion that may please the ear. Oh, and we make collages..
Beginning with Joshua Challen and Greg King throwing down some improvised jams during the summer of 2014, The John Trumaine Show has developed into a 3 piece band--adding John Lora-- and expanded its vision into a fully formed Psychedelic Rock Band that incorporates a community of artists of all kinds to achieve a truly unique sound and presence."
Pittsburgh psychedelic rockers The John Trumaine Show are a trio who will be releasing their debut album "GeoFever" this upcoming Spring. In the meantime, you can check them out this Friday, January 2nd at The Smiling Moose for the EARLY show. I want to thank Joshua Challen (Drums) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

The first album you ever bought?
Kansas “Greatest Hits”. Who doesn't jam out to ‘Dust in The Wind’ every once and a while?

Your last album bought?
“Head Hunters” Herbie Hancock. Opening with a 10+ minute jam, the feeling of those grooves is what we want our listeners to feel when dancing to our tunes.

Favorite album of all time?
“Demon Days” The Gorillaz. Innovative, danceable grooves like nothing else. It's the one, or as close as we can come to naming "the one."

Least favorite/most disappointing album?
“Turn Blue” The Black Keys. Being huge fans of all The Black Keys albums, this one just didn't hit the spot. Who's to say we won't come around someday though, eh?

First concert attended?
Cher... All that needs to be said.

Last concert?
Washed Out. Witnessing this one man band take on a full band experience was really something that we kept in mind when developing a live show.

Favorite concert ever?
Grizzly Bear at Bonnaroo 2013. The tightness of this group, while also being so effortless is something to strive for.

Least favorite concert?
Brand New at Penn State. Band was great. Crowd was not.

Favorite thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?
Playing shows at local art studio/venue Runaway Studios has become a favorite of ours. The art, poetry, music and community that has been created at Runaway is the most interesting and inspiring work that we've been lucky enough to be a part of.

Thanks, Greg. I never heard of Runaway Studios. Thanks, I will have to check it out. I am always looking for new 'venues' to shoot at.
