"Franny sometimes goes by her borderline name of Xera. She has been farming this summer and makes homegrown moon and star country road, rollin’ ,tumblin’  buzz-rock sing-a-longs & folk ballads. Franny incubated and inoculated these songs in her bone-cold love shack dreaming of her native southern air all winter long and when she stumbled out of the shack under the skies of Uptown,Soho Pittsburgh, PA (the paris of appl at cha’), and gathered some moon shiners and recorded some songs. and the faucet keeps running. Both on her own with an acoustic guitar or with a band of wild cards (members of Robin Vote, Ghost Guts & Raul & the Lumber Jerks recorded & have played & play with her)."

Franny Moon is an Pittsburgh based cosmic country rock and roll band, led by songwriter Sarah Frances Kuhn (Guitar/Vocals). The band have a slew of singles up on over at their BandCamp page and you can see them play out live frequently around town. I want to thank Sarah for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

The first album you ever bought?
I stole Dylan’s Nashville Skyline on vinyl from my parents at a young age

Your last album bought?
I got a free download from Ghost Guts/Locks & Damns… and borrowed the Carter family from the library.

First concert attended?
Waylon Jennings at my school in Nashville, TN.

Last concert?
The Working Poor at Sonnys, Ghost Guts acoustic set at Spirit, National Reserve at Skinny Dennis in Brooklyn, Ladyfest…I loved Big Girls & Black Rapp Medusa.

Favorite album of all time?
All of time is a long time. Lately, I have had International Submarine Band’s Safe at Home, Flying Burrito Brothers Burritos Burrito Deluxe playing a lot.

Least favorite/most disappointing album?
I get disappointed by the radio sometimes. Luckily you can change the channel.

Favorite concert ever?
Not sure I have ever seen it yet.

Least favorite concert?
I think I already put it way out of my mind.

Favorite thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?
Before I moved here, I didn’t know that Pennsylvania had it’s very own exotic jungle town with a super lush green hills and rivers landscape… mid-afternoon twenty minute rainstorms and nature walks on the way to the corner store… this morning I saw an owl, a pack of deer, a flock of wild turkeys, two groundhogs, a spider the size of my fist and six bunnies. And I live a fifteen minute walk from downtown.

Thanks, Sarah. Pittsburgh is the best. It does seem like we live in a virtual enchanted forest at times.
