Garfield
Rose and Sara are a lo-fi indie acoustic folk duo from Pittsburgh. They are somewhat new to the Pittsburgh music scene and you can check out their debut release, "The Pursuit of Antiquity" at their Bandcamp page. They are playing a show tomorrow at Roboto with Delay and Secret Tombs. My thanks to the gals for participating in this edition of First/Last.

Sara: The newest Front Bottoms album.
Rose: I recently bought the “Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.” record by Simon and Garfunkel at a yard sale.

Least favorite/most disappointing
album?
Sara: Probably the recent Avett Brothers album, “I and Love and You”. It sounds too clean. Less raw and real as their past albums.
Rose: I'd say the new Bright Eyes album, “The People's Key”. I wish they had stuck to their lo-fi folk roots, this new one seems contemporary and modern.

I think the first concert we went to was Avril Lavigne. I think she was touring with Simple Plan.

Sara: I saw Dr. Dog play a free show with Sharon Van Etten and Great Lake Swimmers.
Rose: Purity Ring with the Dirty Projectors.

Sara: Either when I saw Dr. Dog at Mr. Smalls, or Margot and the Nuclear So and So's.

Rose: Probably The Avett Brothers when they played at Stage AE. You weren't even allowed to bring your camera in or anything.
Sara: I agree, we saw them a while back and they played at this old rollerskating rink and it was a really great show but the recent one at stage AE was really disappointing.

Any thoughts,
experiences about Pittsburgh?
We love it here. It's such a "big small city," that it's easy to get to know the people you want to get to know. Like, in the music scene, it doesn't take long to figure out who to talk to about playing shows or where to play. And from there you just meet so many people. Pittsburgh is a city that makes it really easy for artists or musicians to grow.
