First/Last-Red Hands

"I'll put it flatly: if you haven't heard of these guys, you should. Breaking out of the Pittsburgh scene with their energized blend of old school post-hardcore and hardcore punk, Red Hands wasted no time in proving to me that they meant business." - Hansel Romero with Absolute Punk

The Pittsburgh rockers recently released their latest album, "There's No Growth If There's No Rest" and will certainly play selections from it when they hit The Smiling Moose Late Show this upcoming Saturday along with buds of the blog Kid Durango. I want to thank Dave Yarkovsky (Guitar) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

The first album you ever bought?
'Weird' Als Yankovic “Bad Hair Day” on cassette.

Your last album bought?
The new Manchester Orchestra album, “COPE”.

Favorite album of all time?
That's a really hard (impossible) one, but Circa Survive's “Juturna” has yet to get old to me.

Least favorite/most disappointing album?
The Saosin album after their self-titled was a huge letdown for me at the time. It wasn't nearly as catchy. Nothing stuck with me at all.

First concert attended?
Weezer with Saves the Day and Ozma.

Last concert?
City and Colour.

Favorite concert ever?
The Mars Volta at Club Laga in '03 was amazing. Also every time I've seen the Dillinger Escape Plan.

Least favorite concert?
I went to G3 one year when Vai, Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen played. Obviously they are all great players, but after the 10th solo, I was about ready for a nap.

Favorite thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?
I love almost everything about Pittsburgh. For such a small city, it's filled with so many things to do if you just take some time to look for them. There's great music, great food, and some amazing museums. You're only bored if you want to be bored.

Thanks, Dave. Nothing against the greatness of those G3 guys but that always sounded like a snoozefest to me.
